Abstract : The researcher in this study Dealt with traditional intertextuality in Ghazi Algosaibi’s novels by considering the intertextuality as a phenomenon of discourse and critical strategy, in order to specify modes of correlation of the traditional text with the modern Saudi novelist text, by protruding aspects of that correlation and its proveniences and aims, and illustrate the aesthetical effect that provided by the intertextuality to the narrative text, to become as a structural element that contain distinct artistic potentiality and various epistemic significance. Before proceeding The speech about intersexuality’s methods and aspects, the Researcher presented a comprehensive theoretical introduction about the idiom of intertextuality and the beginnings of its appearance at the hands of Western critics and their opinions around it, and the amplitude of their influence on Arabian critical knowledge , followed by a brief that describes the nature of the relation between narrative text and tradition. in the first chapter the Researcher dealt with the Topics of the traditional intertextuality and divided them into four sections: the religious, historical, literary, and folkloric intertextuality, and indicated aspects and ways of the relation between those texts and the narrative text, and the concepts or implications of that correlation. The second chapter presented forms, grades, artistic techniques of the traditional intertextuality, the first section of this chapter included the most prominent forms of intertextuality, which appeared in the novels the form of: intertextuality is not direct (substantive) and intertextuality direct (formal). The second topic dealt with degrees of intertextuality in terms of the depth of intertextuality, which appeared in the novels divided into: indirect(significant) and direct(formal) intertextuality. The second section dealt with grades of intertextuality considering the depth of that correlation divided into three levels: interaction, imbrications, and seclusion. The third section focused on techniques that manifestation of intertextuality which seemed ramous, active and intensive, namely: free association, reviving, and dreaming. followed by the third and final chapter which presented the artistic and semantic functions of the traditional intertextuality, the first section treated with artistic functions which are: extending, illustrating, and paratextuality. As for The second section dealt with semantic functions which are: the ideological dimension, the epistemic dimension and the symbolic dimension of the intertext correlation. The researcher concluded from her research a number of comprehensive notable results such as: one of the important reasons that make the contemporary novelist turn to tradition provenance and utilized it, is to realize cultural originality at a time rooting the modern Arabic novel is very related to the Arab identity, nationalism and vigilance. It is the combative duty of the Arabian creator and facing the challenges of modernity in the same time. Algosaibi used tradition data in his novels to support the many discourses, like essence and its relation to the other, civilized discourse, national discourse, and women discourse. The study also revealed that the vulnerability of the novel’s artistic structure. So that correlation did not lose its aesthetics and abundance .Which makes the practice of discovering of its dimensions and connotations more delectable to the reader. The researcher also found that more investment topics of the traditional Intertextuality in Algosaibi’s novels is literary intertextuality with its two sections: the poetic and narrative, then the historical, followed by the folkloric, and the religious. Due to many reasons which had presented by the researcher as perceived through the research
