Abstract : In this thesis, thin films of pyronine G (Y) were prepared using thermal evaporation technique . The thermal stability , crystal structure , electrical transport and optical properties have been studied . In addition hybride Organic/Inorganic solar cells were fabricated . I-V and C-V characteristics of Au/Pyr.Gy/GaAs/(Au:zn) heterojunction ,as well as,photovoltaic properties have been studied. The structure properties of pyronine G (Y) were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Fourier transformation infrared (FTIR) technique . These studies were carried out to identify the structural features and crystalline structure . It is found that Pyronine G (Y) compound is thermally stable and has tetragonal system . The structure of the deposited film was found to be in nanocrystallite range and the crystallite size was changed by annealing and irradiation by γ –rays . . The electrical properties showed that pyronine G (Y) films behave as semiconducting materials. The optical properties of the as deposited , annealed and γ - ray irradiated films of pyronine G (Y) have been investigated , by spectrophotometric technique. The absorption and dispersion behaviour were determined , as well as, optical parameters such as,the energy gap Eg ,oscillator energy Eo dispersion energy Ed , the high frequency dielectric constant ε∞ and lattice dielectric constant εL . Also the effect of annealing and γ -ray irradiation on the optical parameters has been investigated > The (I-V) , (C-V) and photovoltaic properties of > Au/pyr(y)/GaAs/(Au:zn) heterojunction solar cell were measured to determin some essential parametres such as diode quality factor (m) poterntial barrier and the operating conduction mechanisms . At the same time , I-V characteristics under illumination of the same diode as a solar cell were studied in order to determine the soler cell parameters such as open circuit voltage Voc , short circuit current Isc , fill factor FF and efficiency η. This cell exhibited photovoltaic characteristics with a power conversion efficiency of 3% .The obtained data from various measurements were analyzed according to theoretical models
