Abstract : This study takes into account the literature of the act of delegations incoming to the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) during the era of prophecy; a study in structure and word formation. The importance of this study can be owing to its being concerned with the study of the literature of a social phenomenon which existed during the pre-Islamic time and continued for ages. This phenomenon is the act of delegations incoming to kings and presidents; along with the literal outcomes of this phenomenon, such as, oratory, dialog, and correspondence and poetry which in tern emphasizes the strong relationship between this social phenomenon and literature. This type of literature in the era of prophecy has been selected in order to examine the literature of delegations which went to the prophet Mohammed (PBUH) for different purposes and the literal in-prose outcomes of those delegations. Those outcomes were presented in the arts of prose which resulted from the act of delegations incoming to the prophet Mohammed (PBUH) such as oratory, dialog, and correspondence; along with the study of these arts from two points of views. One of them is the intellectual semantic structure. The other is the artistic function of word formation which is concerned with the artistic study of the linguistic and structural formation along with the exterior structure of each type of the three in-prose arts. The research sums up for points; • The literature of the act of delegations incoming depends on prose not poetry. This can be owing to the nature of this act which stands on meeting, interaction and dialog. • Diversity in the intellectual structure of the literature of the three types of arts: oratory, dialog, and correspondence. • The prophet Mohammed (PBUH) showed a unique competence in communicating with each delegation in its own language. • The structural study has reflected the eloquence of the prophet Mohammed orations and of the delegation as well, although his eloquence exceeded theirs.
