Abstract : The consistent development of technology has broadened the horizon for rich and innovative approaches to revolutionize education. Flipped classroom (FC) model is an innovative classroom structure “that moves the lecture outside the classroom via technology and moves homework and practice with concepts inside the classroom via learning activities” (Strayer, 2007, p.3). In this study, the researcher aims to present an approach to improve students' English as a Foreign Language (EFL) proficiency level in speaking skill. In addition, the researcher's impetus is to appraise the impact of flipped classrooms in enhancing students' speaking skill in comparison to the traditional classroom as well as discover participants’ views toward the FC experience and the instructional videos used as pre-class learning materials. For this study, a quantitative research method was employed through quasi experimental design. An experimental group and a control group were assigned in the study. The data was collected using multiple sources, including pre- and post-speaking achievement tests and two questionnaires. The participants selected for the study were all female students at King Abdulaziz University (KAU) in Saudi Arabia, who are in their foundation year. The results revealed that the FC did not sufficiently enhance the experimental group’s speaking skill to cause a statistical significance in comparison to the controlled group. On the other hand, students held a positive attitude toward the FC experiment and the used instructional videos.
