Abstract : The study concentrated on the evaluation of indoor air quality in 4 lead smelting factories in Jeddah Industrial city, in order to evaluate the impact of secondary lead smelters on worker health. The following criteria were considered: 1- Concentration of respirable Particulate Matter 2- Lead levels in respirable Particulate Matter and settled dust on the surface and the floor. 3- Lead levels in worker blood The respirable particulate matters were collected by personal dust sampler fixed on the worker chest for 8 hours. Lead concentrations were measured by atomic absorption spectrometer after digestion with nitric acid. Indoor deposited dusts on both surfaces and floor were collected and acid digested. The concentrations of lead in dusts were measured by atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The study results showed that both airborne lead level and workers blood levels were well below the local and international standards. The result may reflect the impact of strict PME regulation and continuous follow up for lead smelting factories.
