Abstract
:
The current study aimed at inspecting the effectiveness of teaching and learning situations in developing life skills included in the home economy and attainment curricula and the inclination towards the subject of home economy in the secondary stage. In other words, the current study seeks to answer the following main question :- - What is the effectiveness of a suggested program that includes teaching and learning situations for the development of life skills included in home economic curricula in the secondary stage? From this main inquiry, the following questions are divided: What is the image of a program based on learning and teaching situations that considers the aims of life skills course and home economy in first year secondary? What is the effectiveness of teaching the suggested educational situations in developing the female students' scientific achievement in the subject of home economy? What is the effectiveness of teaching the suggested educational situations in developing life skills in the subject of home economy? What is the effectiveness of teaching the suggested educational situations in developing the female students' attitudes towards the subject of home economy? What kind of relation is there the students' marks in life skills norm, their marks in cognitive attainment test and their marks in the inclinations' test towards home economy for the female students in the experimental group in the post application? The original environment of the study consisted of (44 female students) from first year secondary students in the first secondary school in "Bisha" governorate as an experimental group and (40 female students) first year secondary students in the fourth secondary school in "Bisha" governorate as a control group. The researcher used the descriptive approach in the current study besides using the semi-experimental approach. To achieve the purpose of the study, she designed an educational program in the form of teaching and learning situations based on units. To measure the effectiveness of the program in developing life skills, scientific achievement and attitude, the researcher prepared a scale for life skills and a scientific achievement test in addition to the scale of attitudes towards the subject which was prepared by Dr./ Khadija Bakheet and these tools were pre and post applied on both the experimental and control groups. Then, the program was taught to the experimental group while the control group was being taught with the traditional method. After arranging the data that were taken from the pre and the post tests as concerning the test of scientific achievement and the scale of life skills and attitudes, they were statistically dealt with and the results were as follows:- There are statistically significant differences at the level (0.001) between the averages of the female students' marks in the experimental and the control group in the scientific achievement test, scale of and inclinations for the benefit of the experimental group students. There is a positive correlative relationship that is statistically significant at the level (0.001) between life skills and the scientific achievement and life skills and the female students' inclinations towards the subject of home economy and scientific achievement and the female students' inclinations towards the subject of home economy.
